Kanye West took a break from NYFW and dropped by The Breakfast Club Friday morning (Feb. 20), keeping it all the way real. He got into his sneaker collection with adidas and the vision he has for his retail brand, the Grammys, and his ex, Amber Rose, coming for his wife, Kim Kardashian.
But first, Yeezus discussed his recent dinner date with Taylor Swift and the restaurant playing Beck’s 2014 album, Morning Phase, the same album that nearly had Kanye pulling a Kanye at the Grammys.
“I deserved Donkey of The Day,” he told Charlamagne tha God, who criticized the rapper for his after-Grammy rant about the award show not respecting musical artistry.
When asked about his wife posing nude on the cover of Paper magazine, he had no restrictions on her public nudity. When Amber Rose slipped into the conversation, ‘Ye made it clear that he always wanted Kim.
“If Kim had dated me when I wanted, there would be no Amber Rose,” he said, mentioning having to take 30 showers before he got with Kim.
He also commented on Tyga’s situationship with Kylie Jenner. “They are closer in age than a lot of relationships that I know,” he said, “I knew Tyga was smart.” Then he pulled back, saying, “Yeah, I can’t speak on nobody’s relationship.”
Mr. West later spoke on his upcoming album and admitted that 80 percent of the project is complete. He said he wanted this album to speak on the rise of police brutality because his father advised him to stay out of the controversy last year.
“Yeah, my dad emailed me and said stay out of it,” ‘Ye said. “Now, my dad is like a thousand percent smarter than me and a thousand times more social than me. He like literally lived at a homeless shelter and he emailed me and told me to stay out of it—that’s my only parent so I have to listen to him sometimes.”
He continued, “I think he was just trying to be protective of his son. I can’t run in front of every bullet, you know. I just can’t run in front of every single bullet.”
