You can always count on Kendrick Lamar to be different. Hitting the Saturday Night Live stage for the third time last night (Nov. 15), the self-loving TDE rapper offered an eerie performance of his single, ‘i.’ Donning black-out eye contacts and a face full of sweat, K. Dot mirrored the dark intensity of the track’s visuals, as well as put a spin on the chorus’ lyrics:
When you’re lookin’ at me, tell me what do you see,
I put a bullet in the back of, back of the head of the police,
Illuminated by the hand of God, boy don’t be shy,
One day at a time, sun gon’ shine

Later, Kendrick teamed up with Jay Rock for another visually striking performance. Trading verses for their “Pay For It” collaboration, the dark stage was accented with white spotlights for the TDE affair.
Kendrick also appeared in a skit on the coveted sketch comedy show. Taking a funny stab at Lady Gaga’s and Tony Bennett, the rapper teamed up with a fake Barry Manilow for a string of duets called Young Tarts & Old Farts:
