It was a birthday celebration of epic proportions in Miami this past weekend in honor of J-Dilla. The late producer’s mother, Ma Dukes, and the good people of the Dilla Foundation honored her son James Dewitt Yancy aka J Dilla with a three-day concert. Rap fans from all over the map were treated to performances from the best lyricists and DJs hip-hop has to offer.

It’s been about 10 years to the day since Dilla dropped off his final album Donuts before succumbing to the rare blood disease thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura. As a tribute to critically acclaimed beatsmith, Bun B, Jay Electronica, Rapsody, 9th Wonder, A.F.R.O., Diamond D and plenty more extended birthday wishes to Dilla as if he was still with us today.
