While T-Pain’s The Iron Way mixtape racks up downloads, the all encompassing artist is putting the finishing touches on his next projects.
The Florida native has been working on his forthcoming Stoicville album for several years now – and promises fans that the release will be worth the wait. T-Pain tells VIBE he is making music that makes him happy again. Slated to be released later this year, Stoicville will mark his first solo effort since 2011’s Revolver.
“I just took some time to be behind the camera,” says T-Pain about his absence in the limelight. “You want to be that person behind the camera that’s making things happen. The richest people in the world — you pretty much never see them.”
The singer/rapper/producer says he was keeping his business in order behind the scenes, but is definitely ready to keep the new tunes rolling. “It’s not really just about putting out a million songs all at once,” T-Pain continues. “It’s really about having your shit together for your kids. And, making sure you have something to leave everybody.”
He also gave a hint about an upcoming project that will feature new members of his Nappy Boy label.
“We got a new project coming, it’s kind of a secret thing but you’ll be able to figure it out when it comes. We’re kind of doing a whole Gorillaz type of thing — where nobody really sees who’s behind it. So this project is gonna be judged solely from the music.”
