DJ Skee has made a name for himself on the airwaves as a radio personality. These days he says he has more fun reminiscing about his old 4AM shifts back when he was starting out in Minneapolis, than working for the biggest radio stations in America.
“People were dissatisfied with it,” DJ Skee says of the feedback he got on major radio. “There’s only 2 reasons: Number one is the amount of commercials, and number two is the lack of variety; it’s the same repetitive playlist… Radio somehow became not cool over the years, like it used to be when I was growing up, which was not that long ago.”
So DJ Skee did something about it. He launched DASH Radio — a digital radio platform and app that’s insanely user–friendly and easy to navigate — with help from music industry vets like L.A. Reid, East Village Radio’s Peter Ferraro and many more.
“Dash Radio, the easiest way to think of it, is all the stations you ever wanted, absolutely free with no commercials, available anywhere.”
VIBE got to hang out with DJ Skee on the app’s launch date where Wiz Khalifa came in with his family in tow for an interview on Skee 24/7, Skee’s personal channel and one of the fifty stations on DASH.
“When we found out he was releasing his album the day our app dropped it was only natural.”
