Beyoncé may have outdone herself with a surprise visual album last December, but the Wu-Tang Clan is about to deliver their new LP through a portable speaker. Thanks to Boombotix, a wearable speaker will stream eight songs from the rap group’s 20th anniversary LP A Better Tomorrow and a bonus track.
“There’s something transcendent about being able to physically hold music,” says RZA, the brains behind the operation. “Back in the day, holding a vinyl helped you appreciate just how much time and sweat goes into creating a single track, let alone an entire album. Over the last decade, we’ve lost that sensation. With this project, we hope to strengthen the bond between fan and artist. Boombotix puts the music back in your hands so you can stay connected to your favorite artists wherever you go.”
Only 3,000 units of the Wu speaker will be sold, with 1,000 on Boombotix.com and the other 2,000 at clothing/skate store Zumiez. It’s currently available for pre-order for $79.99, before its release in November.
