In a two-part interview with Dr. Phil, Shayanna Jenkins-Hernandez, the former fiancée of Aaron Hernandez, speaks about the last time she spoke to Hernandez, and why she doesn’t believe he took his own life.
“He was very positive,” she says, describing her phone conversation with Hernandez the night before his body was found. “He was so, ‘Daddy’s gonna be home’ and ‘I can’t wait to sleep in the bed with you guys’ and ‘I can’t wait to just hold you and love you.'” Jenkins-Hernandez also says there was no indication that he planned to take his own life merely hours later.
Aaron Hernandez’s lawyers and the mother of his child have consistently maintained disbelief that the former New England Patriots player was suicidal, and they have expressed interest in pursuing their own investigation into his death.
The second part of the Dr. Phil interview will air Tuesday (May 16). Watch a clip from Monday’s episode above.
