This summer New York City will host the annual Afro-Latino Festival for its fifth consecutive year. The two-day event will take place on July 7 and 8 and will include panels, performances and art installations in celebration of the African diaspora throughout Latin America.
If the festivities were not enough, the 2017 lineup will be especially focused on women artists, professionals, activists and creators. The star-studded lineup will include Latin Grammy-winning Milly Quezada, Dominican Republic’s dembow star Amara La Negra, DJ Tygapaw, Alison Hinds, Johnny Osbourne and many more.

Apart from the performance-packed shows, Afro-Latino Fest will also feature the Liberación Film Festival, which will showcase documentaries like Death by A Thousand Cuts and Sombra Di Koló.
In hopes of continuing the festival in future years, those interested can donate to a special Kickstarter campaign launching Sunday (April 9) at 11:59 p.m. Hosted by Afrolatino Travel, donors can enter to win VIP passes, special merchandise and even an excursion of Havana, Cuba or Colon, Panama.
