
Akon’s mission to provide electricity for Africa has spread to Latin America. The “Smack That” rapper has already provided over 600 million people with electricity in homes across Africa. Now, the Senegal native is expanding his solar power initiative overseas to help bring electricity to countries throughout Latin America.

Akon followed up with photos from his meeting with Antonio Carlos Magalhães Neto (below), the mayor of Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, where he proposed to bring his solar-powered electricity effort to poor communities in his state. Along with expanding to Latin America, Akon Lighting Africa plans to spread across even more countries in Africa, from Kenya to South Africa.
