
Forty-four years ago today, the man called Christopher Rios was born. He would later be known to the hip-hop world and beyond as Big Punisher, and go on to break barriers as the first Latino solo act to attain Platinum sales status. But Pun was more than just a GOAT MC who met his untimely demise after years of struggling with his weight, he was also a husband and father (for better or worse).

The late rapper’s 19-year-old son Chris Rivers took to his Instagram account this morning and shared a vintage image of the two, complete with a message so heartfelt you’ll shed a thug tear or two.

“You’re this Titan in my eyes this insurmountable force as an rapper,” he wrote in the lengthy post. “I hear stories about your legendary charisma and the way you inspired people like a king. I would have loved to get to know you more. You were the greatest rapper , you were a person who manifested and shaped his destiny from selling crack in sound view sleeping out of bags to going double platinum whippin nighas with iced out chains…”
