Songstress Brooklynn is back with another one of her funky upbeat tracks. The Atlanta-singer has just released her new song “If She Stays.” Over an electronic infused beat peppered with hints of psychedelic undertones, Brooklynn questions her stance (or someone else’s) in a precarious love triangle. In hindsight, she is asking the bachelor to decide between the other two involved parties.
However, the song isn’t inspired by Brooklynn’s own personal internal debate over a seemingly messy or rather unrequited love. In fact, she admits she found her muse for the track in a Hollywood drama. “The song is inspired by Leonardo DiCaprio and the love triangle he’s associated with in the movie Revolutionary Road with Kate Winslet,” she said.
Yet despite her tales of toxic love, Brooklynn has far more on her agenda than just singing about relationships. She also plans to create something for the Latino community – a full-length, Spanish-language album.
I love the Spanish language. I think it’s a beautiful language. But really, besides that fact that a lot of my friends are Latino, I also believe in your art reflecting the times,” said Brooklyn, who is of Native American descent. “And think that with everything going on, with immigration and the state of immigrants in the United States, I’d love to contribute to that conversation, musically.”
