Selena Quintanilla-Perez has had quite the year with a posthumous Texas Women’s Hall of Fame induction, a sold out MAC collection and a Madame Tussauds wax figure that prove her legacy is alive and thriving.
Now, according to Deadline, Endemol Shine North America and Major TV have optioned the television rights to Chris Perez’s memoir To Selena With Love, which gave Selena fans an opportunity to get to know the late singer beyond the fame through the eyes of her husband upon its release in 2012.
“Selena is one of the most influential Latin artists of all time, and her legacy continues to live on long after her tragic death,” said Cris Abrego, CEO of Endemol Shine North America. “Chris Perez’s beautiful book To Selena With Love captured their amazing life together and will make for the perfect foundation for a TV series that our team is currently developing for both English and Spanish audiences worldwide.”
With hit series like The Biggest Loser and The Real Housewives of Atlanta on its roster, Endemol is no stranger to success. Yet, nothing quite compares to capturing Selena’s life on screen, so we’re hoping this venture is a win as it moves beyond its infancy stage.
