In as little as seven months, Cuba went from mysterious land to trending topic to Discovery Channel’s newest car series. And considering its premiere date, filming for Cuban Chrome began well before Obama and Raul officially announced that the U.S. and Cuba are resuming diplomatic relations.

For better or worse, Cuban Chrome indubitably marks the end of an era in America’s curiosity. The reality series focuses on the island’s beloved car culture and follows members of Havana’s “A lo cubano” club as they pimp out their vintage four-wheelers in hopes of keeping the classics rolling for another generation.
Will cable television forever ruin Cuba? Probably not. Whatever the case, Cuban Chrome airs July 13, 2015 on the Discovery Channel at 10 p.m.
