Orange is the New Black star Dascha Polanco has never kept quiet when it comes to body shaming and shutting down her haters. The Dominican actress recently opened up to Vogue magazine in an interview about her experience as a size woman in Hollywood, including her rejection from a high end brand because of her flavorful curves.
“I had a situation with a high-end brand the other day where I had personally invested so much money purchasing their items, and I love what they do, so I had my publicist reach out to their PR team,” she shared in her interview with Vogue magazine. “Their response was, “Oh, you’re not the sizes we have, not right now, maybe in the future.” Now even if they want me to [wear their designs] down the road, I will not give them the pleasure.”
After her interview, Polanco posted a picture on Instagram showcasing her jean sizes and calling out (especially women) who are constantly worried about her size.
There is always a few and so sad that usually they seem to be women. Apparently some have spend time in my jeans as much as my GLUTEUS MAX / MINOR does, LET ME BE CLEAR OR SIMPLIFY FOR THOSE THAT HAVE TELEPATHIC MEASURING CAPABILITIES. The point is that WOMEN FOR YEARS HAVE BEEN CATEGORIZED And LIMITED TO THE OPPORTUNITIES BECAUSE OF APPEARANCE & PERCEPTION. #LaqueloSABENtodoysolosabenhablarpuraMATERIAFECAL #whocares #whatisTHISfecalmatterUspeakof #fo #wacala #whyyyyyyyy #focusingoneverythingbutTHEbullseye NEWHASHTAGALERT *******. #uwanttospendtimeindasheseveryoneknowsherasssizejeans. . #esqueJODEN. #bye. #HAIRFLIBYE
“It’s disappointing, but I try to work with up-and-coming designers who will make things for me and who will collaborate with me. People who love my curves and embrace them as much as I do,” she added.

“I want to break that barrier,” she continued. “Even though I’m a size 8 or 10, I still can look as great as someone who’s a size 0.” The fact that Vogue, a fashion magazine known for its Eurocentric models, even brought awareness to Polanco’s story is a huge step in the right direction. A true inspiration to other curvy Hollywood dreamers, fans took to Twitter to thank and show support for their fellow advocate.
