Diego Luna-Alexander landed a role as Captian Cassian Andor in the new Star Wars film Rouge One, and his son went bonkers. The Mexican actor gained his fame as a childhood actor in telenovelas and lead in Y Tu Mama Tambien, and now is stepping into the sci-fi world with the beloved franchise.
Luna stopped by Good Morning America to speak on his new role in the film, as well as his children’s experience with the actor’s new venture. The father of two explained that his son originally hated his father’s job because of the time it took away from them, but after learning about his role as Cassian Andor in the new Star Wars movie, the eight-year-old boy is over-the-moon about his dad’s latest gig.

“Our whole relationship has changed since the news came out. He’s a huge fan of ‘Star Wars’ and when I told him, he just went crazy. Work normally used to separate us. He hated my job. He was like, ‘Where are you going? Are you crazy? You’re going to leave me here?’ But now he’s like, ‘Dad, got to go!” said Luna on his son’s newfound appreciation.
Luna went on to talk about his exciting experience meeting Darth Vadar on set, and admitted he had to undergo military training to prepare for his combat-minded character. Catch Rogue One: A Star Wars Story on Dec. 16, and peep the official trailer:
