Scarface is coming back to movie theaters, with Diego Luna as the lead. The 37-year-old Mexican actor, who starred in Rogue One, is reportedly set to reprise Al Pacino’s role in a reimagined version of the 1983 crime flick.
According to Variety, director Antoine Fuqua will no longer helm the film, due to scheduling conflicts. Fuqua opted to walk from the project in order to finish working on a sequel to Denzel Washington’s The Equalizer.
Universal Pictures is developing the Scarface reboot, which will center around a Mexican immigrant in Los Angeles.
Pacino starred as fictional Cuban refugee-turned-drug lord, Antonio “Tony” Montana, in the ’80s version of Scarface. The film was written by Oliver Stone and directed by Brian De Palma.
