UPDATE 12/26/16 12:06 P.M. EST
New details have emerged in the hit and run case of Jean Paul Guerrero, know to many as DJ Jinx Paul.
Pix11 reports Kevin Ozoria turned himself into police on Friday (Dec. 23). However, due to “insufficient evidence,” a Brooklyn DA dropped the charges on Saturday (Dec. 24). They included leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and tampering with physical evidence. A body shop employee claimed the 27-year-old suspiciously brought his vehicle into his establishment on the same day as the hit and run and insisted the car wouldn’t be parked outside.
Ozoria’s aunt Nery Ordonez defended her nephew to NBC News. “Maybe he did it and maybe it was an accident but he didn’t want to kill nobody,” Ordonez said. “You know, you get scared.”
Witnesses told police a woman fled the scene before the car took off, but it hasn’t been determined if she was driver or the passenger.
The investigation is still open.
