Congratulations are in order for longtime actress and activist, Eva Longoria! Starting off her career on the hit soap opera The Young and the Restless and her eight-year role on Desperate Housewives, the now Devious Maids star is one of the two Latinas from Corpus Christi, Texas who will be receiving their spot on the iconic Hollywood Hall of Fame. The second 2017 Hollywood Walk of Fame Honoree will be the late Tejana singer Selena Quintanilla. On a phone interview with NBC Latino, Longoria discussed her excitement in receiving the special award and even more, alongside her idol.
“OMG I’m so honored to be receiving a STAR on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!,” said Longoria. “I remember moving to Hollywood nearly 20 years ago and going straight to the iconic street and look at the stars and saying ‘I wanna have a star on this street one day!’ I remember it so clear, I was on the corner of La Brea and Hollywood Blvd.”

Quintanilla released five Spanish-language albums before her tragic death in 1995, and one English-language LP, “Dreaming of You,” posthumously. She easily became the top Latino artist in both Mexico and the U.S. before her death. Fans all over still idolize the late singer til this day, including Longoria. “What makes this even sweeter is that I stand side by side with my idol Selena Quintanilla!,” she continued. “Corpus girls representing!” The actress took to Instagram to publicly thank the late singer yesterday (June 30).
The dates for the ceremonies are set to be announced approximately one week prior to each artist’s ceremony.
