
Entertainment giant Dick Clark Productions is set to make history with the first-ever Spanish language Latin American Music Awards. The Latin-based awards show is modeled after DCP’s prestigious American Music Awards and will honor artists based on sales, airplay, streaming and social activity, tracked by Billboard data partners Nielsen Music and Next Big Sound.

There hasn’t been an official announcement about who will take on hosting duties for the historical night. After all, it’ll be tough to find someone who can follow up Pitbull, who hosted the AMAs for the last two years.
Nominees for all 20 categories will be revealed on Sept. 2, with fan voting and ticket sales beginning the same day. Voting will be powered by Telescope Inc, the same driving force behind voting for The Voice, La Voz Kids, American Idol, Premios Tu Mundo and X Factor.
