On Thursday morning (Jan. 14), actor Ricardo Medina, Jr. was arrested and charged with the 2015 murder of his roommate, Josh Sutter. According to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office, the ex “Red Ranger” got into an argument with Sutter over Medina’s girlfriend, last year in their Green Valley apartment.
The argument turned into a violent alternation, which allegedly resulted in Medina stabbing Sutter multiple times with a sword. After Medina called 911, Sutter was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Medina was arrested and taken in for questioning last February, but wasn’t formally charged. He claimed he was acting in self-defense and was later released due to lack of evidence. However, the DA’s office urged officials to continue their investigation. Now, nearly a year later, Medina has been arrested and officially charged with murder.
Prosecutors have requested for Medina’s bail to be set at $1 million. If he’s found guilty, the Puerto Rican actor faces 26 years to life behind bars.
In 2002, Medina played the role of Cole Evans a.k.a the “Red Ranger” in Power Rangers Wild Force and reprised his role in the 2011 reboot Power Rangers Samurai. He also made appearances in other TV series like E.R. and CSI: Miami.
