New Americans Museum is located in San Diego, California. It’s designed to preserve and document the experience of all immigrants in the United States. On Saturday (Nov. 28), their official Facebook page announced a vandalizing that occurred earlier that day.
Trump’s hateful rhetoric made its way into the institution, which prides itself on being a space that celebrates the contributions of all multi-generational immigrants. “Too much immigration!” read one slur on a display board. “Go back to your country. This one is ours!”
It seems as though it’s still lost on many that the immigrant story is one that binds us all.
