For Ingrid Silva, dancing was not a hobby. It was a way of life that required hard work and dedication. It also challenged her to move from Rio de Janeiro to New York, to pursue a prominent career. In a short film by Ben Briand, we see the cyclic days that made up Silva’s journey, as well as the force behind her passion.
Now a member of the Dance Theatre of Harlem, and considered one of the best emerging dancers in the world, Silva proves that relentless work toward grand ambitions pays off. Briand captures the emotionality behind her move from Brazil, her arrival to the Big Apple, and the rush of her audition performance.
The short film, titled “Ingrid Silva // Activia,” takes us on a journey through the lens of the performer, giving viewers a closer look at what Silva is really made of. Whether it’s the farewell from her teary-eyed mother, the familiarity of pre-stage jitters, or the poignant understanding of authoritatively pursuing one’s dreams, one can only be left feeling overwhelmed with motivation.
