Days after announcing a $200 million partnership deal with Sprint, Jay Z took to Twitter to sing the praises of the wireless company’s head honcho, CEO Marcelo Claure, who happens to be of Bolivian descent.

With his tweet, HOV signaled to the dearth of Latinos in high positions, particularly at Fortune 500 companies. A poignant reminder we’ve got a ways to go moving up the proverbial corporate ladder.
Claure, who will be joining TIDAL’s Board of Directors, had this to say about his newly found partnership with the rapper-turned-mogul: “Jay saw not only a business need, but a cultural one, and put his heart and grit into building TIDAL into a world-class music streaming platform that is unrivaled in quality and content. The passion and dedication that these artist-owners bring to fans will enable Sprint to offer new and existing customers access to exclusive content and entertainment experiences in a way no other service can.”
