
After her family home in Seattle, Washington set ablaze, 20-year-old Katherine Stone stumbled upon a curious Facebook ad that made her believe she could bring repair to her household. “I found out all about the brothels and the money,” Stone says. “It made me think, ‘Wow, it’s a chance at fixing all that I need to fix.'”
Stone, whose life goals include studying to become a lawyer, signed up at one of Nevada’s infamous legal brothels, the Love Ranch. Only she isn’t selling sex, she’s selling something her fellow coworkers can’t afford—virginity, something she herself values no matter how controversial her decision might seem. “People say you are suppose to do it for love,” she tells CNN. “But if you think about it, I am doing it because I love my family.”
Since she’s been at the ranch, Stone has kept her job by putting on small parties and giving massages (and other “PG-13” stuff). Her current virginity bid is a little more than $400,000.
