Gina Rodriguez isn’t the only one putting Latinas at the forefront of entertainment. Dominican-American actress Dascha Polanco is also paving the way for future Hispanic women to find their spotlight.

The National Association of Latino Independent Producers have announced the honorees for the this year’s Latino Media Awards and Polanco, a.k.a. Dayanara Diaz on Orange is the New Black, will be honored with the Lupe Award.
The award aims to highlight Latino talent who have received an incredible amount of buzz and shown great promise as a future artist.
Actress Raquel Welch and Mexican television star Eugenio Derbez will also be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award and Outstanding Achievement Award, respectively.

The 16th annual Latino Media Awards is scheduled to be held on June 27 in Hollywood.
