UFC champion Ronda Rousey is up for yet another classic film role as Captain Marvel. Over the weekend, Marvel President Kevin Feige, spoke at a panel and expressed his extreme interest in recruiting Rousey to star as Captain Marvel. Amongst the long list of movies planning to hit the silver screen, Captain Marvel will be the next revered comic book superhero to make its debut.
“I love it. That happens occasionally, and I think that’s a testament more to the strength of the characters. Going back to my early days at Marvel, there were always various people campaigning to be Wolverine,” explained Feige. “I guess that was pre-Twitter and pre-Internet days, but still for some reason would pop up in Wizard Magazine. Wizard Magazine would always have ‘this person wants to play this role!’ It’s a testament to how great the characters are that it appeals to such a wide range of talented, talented people.”
It’s obvious Feige is excited about the possibility of having the world-renown fighter star in Marvel’s upcoming film. The question is, will Rousey accept the challenge? Although she previously starred in films like Furious 7 and The Expendables 3, Rousey has already signed on to star in the upcoming Road House remake, and is expected to maintain her regular training schedule for future UFC matches.
Captain Marvel is scheduled to hit theaters Nov. 2, 2018.
