Latinx journalist and activist, Mathew Rodriguez, poignantly describes what it means to have someone in power that does not take responsibility for their actions. In a video produced by Mic.com, he touches on the AIDS epidemic, which has been affecting our society for over 35 years.
He goes on to point out that politician and now Vice President-elect of the United States, Mike Pence, had the opportunity to stop the HIV outbreak of southeast Indiana (his home state) if he would have followed basic scientific procedures. Pence, opposed to clean needle exchanges, chose to ignore them. With Donald Trump and Pence soon to assume their roles in the White House, Rodriguez raises the important question, “Will history repeat itself?”
