R&B singer-songwriter Miguel is tapping into his Latinidad with a cover of Beyoncé’s “Crazy in Love.” In an all-new trailer for Fifty Shades Darker, scheduled to come out Valentine’s Day of next year, we hear Miguel crooning the lyrics to Mrs. Carter’s smash hit, only in Spanish.
Miguel made sure to promote the teaser–where he’s seen piecing the song together inside a studio–the same day the trailer dropped. Since his last project Wildheart was released in 2015, we’ve seen Miguel rendering his Latino roots through music. We’ve even seen traits of his heritage via personal attire, when he’s wearing traditional serape garb while performing city to city.
As the Afromexicano continues to put on for his culture, expect to see more of his identity in the music. His collaboration with Argentine band Illya Kuryaki and the Valderramas, on a track called “Estrella Fugaz,” for instance, is a must-hear.
Miguel’s full-length Beyoncé cover arrives at the top of next year when Fifty Shades Darker hits a theater near you, and we’ve got a feeling it’ll garner all the emoji flames.
