Who: Banda Carnaval
Where they’re playing: AT&T Stadium in Dallas, TX on Thursday, August 20th, 2015
Why you should go: Banda Carnaval, named after the biggest fiesta of the year in their hometown of Mazatlán, have been playing their unique style of brassy Mexican party music since Jesús Tirado Castañeda formed the group in 2001. The band’s biggest moment came in 2013 when they were nominated for a Latin Grammy with their sixth studio album, Las Vueltas De La Vita, and they haven’t let up since then: the release of the effortlessly funky La Historia De Mis Manos set the Latin charts on fire last year.
Castañeda’s group gives an update to the regional sound coming out of the state of Sinaloa in Mexico, peppering their rancheros and corridos with nods to R&B and jazz to create a perfect soundtrack for cooling down after another scorcher of a day in summertime Dallas.

Who: Voz de Mando
Where they’re playing: AT&T Stadium in Dallas, TX on Thursday, August 20th, 2015
Why you should go: Voz de Mando gives you everything a traditional banda should: quick-fingered accordion players, a groovy horn section, and a powerful tenor crooning about broken hearts and lost loves. But the world famous banda also adds some different flavors to its sonic mix by integrating sounds from American folk music and the innovative, bayou-born polka known as zydeco. If you find yourself in need of a refresher course, Voz de Mando released a career-spanning compilation this year which kicks off in triumphant fashion with the ballad
“Y Ahora Resulta,” a modern classic that sounds just as good opening or closing their live sets.
