Mozart La Para took over Jay Z’s 40/40 on Monday (April 11) to premiere his Where I’m From documentary, which can be seen exclusively on TIDAL.
The Where I’m From series has featured the likes of Silver Snakes, Judith Hill, Anthony Hamilton and many more. But for the latest installation in the series, the man born Erickson Fernández transported us straight to the Dominican Republic. As he narrates his journey through Los Mina, a notorious sector of East Santo Domingo, he reveals that he remained focused and although he was faced with trials he made his dream come true. “I feel good because I was able to succeed, but I’m proud because I never forgot my roots,” the artist said as he peered over his hometown.
As the visual came to an end, the crowd at the 40/40 club anxiously waited for an appearance from the Mozart. As the Roc Nation Latin artist emerged onto the stage, he began to perform his hits “Llegan Los Montro Man” and “Pa’ Gozar,” which ignited fans and the uninitiated alike. After shouting out his Roc Nation family and a few others, he challenged any artist who was willing to freestyle battle him. Two participants came on stage as he began to engage in a lyrical bout with the fans, which had the whole venue jumping. La Para finished off with a performance of “Fiesta y Vacilon” and joined the crowd as the party continued.
