Nina L. Diaz, formally VH1’s Senior Vice President (SVP) of East Coast Production and Development, has now been promoted to Executive Vice President (EVP) and Head of Reality Programming for the network. Diaz will now supervise all reality show development and productions for the network under its president, Chris McCarthy.
VH1‘s newest EVP, of Puerto Rican descent and daughter to enterprising reporter David Diaz, is no noob to reality TV. She has under her belt a long resume of collaborations with successful shows including Mob Wives, The Real Housewives of New Jersey, Love and Hip Hop, MTV Cribs and My Super Sweet 16. She is also credited with the inspiration that sparked the Osbournes to get their own show after meeting with her in a filming of MTV Cribs.
“Nina has an exceptional ability to translate pop culture through stories and characters that attract massive, passionate audiences,” said president McCarthy. “Very few people have Nina’s talent and instincts to consistently develop shows that not only reflect culture but also define it.”
VH1 reportedly has nine of the top 20 cable reality shows for adults 18-34 and 18-49, which is more than any other network, something Diaz has played a large role in. Her next upcoming high profile series will be a collaboration with celebrity Amber Rose in the Amber Rose Show and a revival of America’s Next Top Model.
Congratulations!
