Twin sisters Natalie and Nicole Albino return with a new topical-infused, R&B record called “Champion Lover”. Nina Sky’s latest gem serves as the lead single off their forthcoming album Brightest Gold, which marks their first major label release since their 2004 eponymous debut.
“When we got into the studio, we knew we wanted to create something fun,” said Natalie to Huffington Post. “Nicole had recorded this chorus and I had written a verse. We brought it into the studio and had the producers re-create the beat. We wanted a tropical vibe.”
“It was just a playful love song that I wrote about my wife,” Nicole added. “It was just me being cute to her.”
Nina Sky are gearing up for NYC’s fourth edition of the Afro-Latino Festival, taking place July 8 – 10. Princess Nokia, Sango, Maluca, Los Rakas, Tito Puente Jr., and Que Bajo?! are among the diverse artists coming together for the African roots celebration.
