Pitbull and Becky G joined forces to create the 2016 Copa América Centenario’s official track, “Superstar.”
Through a concoction of techno infused fast moving beats, and small interludes of motivating Spanish lyrics, the duo have conjured up the record for the fútbol’s 100th anniversary event. Not to mention, the song was penned and produced by Mr. Worldwide himself.
The famed event will be taking place in the United States this year, something Becky G could not be more elated about. “I grew up watching the Copa América with my grandfather, so to say I’m excited to perform at this world-class soccer event, in my home country, is an understatement,” she said in a statement.
This isn’t the first time, however, Pitbull has taken the stage at the coveted fútbol game. Back in 2014, he took center stage with Jennifer Lopez and Claudia Leite at the 2014 World Cup ceremony in Brazil performing “We Are One (Ole Ola).”
“Music is the universal language, and soccer is the world’s sport,” Pitbull added in a statement. “So it’s an honor to team up with Copa América Centenario and an upcoming superstar like Becky G, who I’m very proud of.”
Jason Derulo, J Balvin and Magic! are set to perform at the opening ceremony of the event at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California on June 3, reports Billboard.
