Here’s a familiar scene made far too common throughout suburbia: a white woman lambasting a Spanish-speaking woman for allegedly cutting in line. Renee Buckner recorded the spectacle before sharing it on Facebook and having it go viral.
In the footage, an elderly woman is seen going on a rant before an audience of fellow shoppers, accusing the Latina in question of being on welfare and shaming her for not speaking English (how original). Grandma, after denouncing the woman in front of her for “skipping,” goes on to tell her and surrounding costumers that she needs to “go back to wherever the f**k you come from.”
Buckner, however, made clear that said Latina was already in line and mid purchase, before her presumed friend or relative added on a few more items before closing out completely.
“I had to get back on FB, to expose this racism in America/Louisville. If we ignore it, it will never go away….smh this is what America has come to, openly and proud to be a racist. Storyline: This Hispanic lady was purchasing items and the transaction was almost complete, then her friend brings up some shirts to be added to her purchase instead of getting in line,” she captioned the clip. “And this lady went off!!! Warning explicit language FYI…this wasn’t the entire scene, people tried to let her know it was out of order, but she wasn’t hearing that.”
Because skipping line warrants being treated inferior and made to feel you don’t belong. See the whole thing go down:
