Rosario Dawson is firm on making her stance in the political atmosphere during this year’s highly publicized and crucial presidential election. And she really, really wants Latinos to be apart of it—especially those who can give others a voice.
The Afro-Latina actress is the new face of “Crash The Parties,” an initiative made by the combination of Voto Latino and Fuse in efforts to find two aspiring Latino reporters to cover the Republican and Democratic National Conventions.
“Want to make a difference? Light a fire under the election conversation? Or maybe shake the very foundations of this country,” Dawson says in the initiatives campaign video. “Time to put the power back where it belongs—in the hands of the people.”
In addition to Dawson, other celebs like America Ferrera and Rosie Perez are also part of the initiative.“It’s a chance to be on the ground floor, reporting from the national conventions and talking to influencers about the issues that affect our community,” Dawson told The Huffington Post regarding the cause.
It definitely would be nice to see more Latino journalists out in the field representing their respective communities, and intelligently influencing the masses to make an educated decision when it comes to voting.
