Child Activist Stands Up For Immigrants At Women’s March

Sophie Cruz delivered one of the best speeches at the Women’s March on Washington on Saturday (Jan. 21).

Since making headlines in 2015 after fearlessly asking the Pope to support the protection of DAPA (Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents) on behalf of her undocumented parents, the six-year-old activist captured hearts yet again with her timely message the day after Donald Trump’s inauguration.

“We are here together making a change of love to protect our families. Let us fight with love, faith and courage so that our families will not be destroyed,” she proclaimed to the crowd, with her loved ones by her side. “I also want to tell the children not to be afraid because we are not alone. There are still many people that have their hearts filled with love…Let’s keep together and fight for the rights. God is with us.”

Drawing in more than one million women and allies across the nation, the Women’s March became the largest inaugural protest in U.S. history. “The Women’s March on Washington will send a bold message to our new administration on their first day in office, and to the world that women’s rights are human rights,” the event organizers explained ahead of the monumental demonstration. “We stand together, recognizing that defending the most marginalized among us is defending all of us.”
