After reports saying The Get Down is being canceled made its rounds on the Internet, producer Nelson George immediately squashed those rumors, urging the general public to stop perpetuating the lie.
“Yo The Get Down has not been cancelled,” said George, according to Okayplayer. “Please don’t forward that silly report. He went on to confirm that the fictional tale rooted in the origins of hip-hop is producing a second season with a tentative premiere date. “Our status will be determined next year. Part two comes this spring.”
The Get Down stars Justice Smith (Paper Towns), Shameik Moore (Dope), and gave us breakout star Herizen F. Guardiola, with actors also portraying hip-hop pioneers Grandmaster Flash and DJ Kool Herc.
