After parting ways with Wisin circa 2014, Yandel’s solo career has ascended to the upper echelons of stardom, gaining the attention of some major labels in the process. Today, the Dangerous reggaetonero has signed a worldwide management deal with Jay Z’s legendary imprint.

“It’s been three years of hard work to get to this point,” Yandel said to Billboard. “Roc Nation has an army. I’m happy because this is what I needed. I have the music, but they have the muscle.”
Andy Martinez, Yandel’s longtime manager, will continue to guide the former half of Wisin y Yandel throughout his new partnership with the Roc. The deal will cater to every aspect of Yandel’s career, including sponsorships and touring. Yandel said that the deal took him by surprise, but it will help him achieve his long-term goal to push his music into mainstream.
“Honestly, I wasn’t looking for this,” he added. “It came out of the blue. I really want my music to go mainstream. Latin is huge now, but I want another movement.”
The “Encantadora” singer was first enticed by the label late last year after Roc Nation Sports boxer Miguel Cotto took him to the company. He later helped Yandel become the first Latin artist to perform at a HBO boxing match last November. Yandel will join singer Shakira on Roc Nation’s growing roster of Latino artists.
