New Orleans, LA Juneteenth Jazz and Jam Arts Festival
This festival will celebrate jazz, art, and education. Just as Juneteenth is a celebration of freedom from slavery, this event will promote a sense of freedom for local artist. Planned events include an art exhibition, “Ladies in Jazz” performance, open mic poetry, an artist market, and a voters registration drive with the support of Operation Big Vote’s Unity 04 Campaign.

Las Vegas, NV 14th Annual Juneteenth Festival
Breathe in the night air as you hear the soft sounds of a steel drum. The Caribbean bop then becomes a drum beat with a West African flair. The cadence gently becomes a syncopated conga with an afro Cuban swing. Inhale the fragrant spices and flavors waiting to be savored. This is Juneteenth.

Galveston, TX Historic March and Inspirational Program
Walk in the footsteps of the ancestors as Reedy Chapel A.M .E. Church re-enacts the first documented celebration of emancipation in Galveston. Just as 800 – 1000 citizens celebrated emancipation on January 1, 1866, you are invited to witness the reading of General Order # 3 from the steps of the Old Galveston Courthouse, then march with jubilation and song to Reedy Chapel A.M.E. Church. In the tradition of the celebration, an inspirational program will follow in the Church sanctuary, featuring African American spirituals, stirring speakers and performances and a reading of the Emancipation Proclamation.

Columbus, OH Juneteenth Ohio 2014
The Juneteenth festival attracts 130,000 supporters in Columbus Ohio and is considered the 3rd largest celebration in the nation. This festival has something for everybody! Bring a loved one out enjoy Freedom Day Friday, Soul Food Saturday, and Old School Sunday.

Lexington Park, MD 4th Annual Juneteenth Memorial Festival 5K Run/Walk
Race or walk 5K (3.1 miles) on a mostly flat course through the former Lexington Manor neighborhood (“The Flattops”) and on the paved loop around Lancaster Park. Walkers are eligible for awards as long as they complete the entire distance on foot – walking, running, or a combination of both.
