“In a way, yeah. Honestly “Oops (Oh My)” was a mistake. I never really said I’d want to do “Oops.” I was riding in the car with Missy [Elliott], and she was playing some music that Timbaland did for her. “Oops” came on, I sung it and she was like let’s just re-record the record. They didn’t push me to do it but it just stuck. So I compromised a little bit on the first album. It just happened.” —Tweet
“I’m really close with Melanie Fiona. She’s been my girl for many, many years. Maybe because we’re both Canadian. We both have West Indian background. She’s just a truth teller. Melanie keeps it real all the time. She’s always been my closest friend.” —Andrea Lewis
“I love it. I wear my hair natural. I wear weaves when I’m working because I have a lot of hair and basically it would be damaged because of the different styles that I wear it. So when I’m working and doing movies, I’ll just use a weave. Even if the character’s hair looks like my hair, I’ll put in weave that looks like my hair. But, I love it. I go through phases where I won’t wear weave and I’ll wear my hair out natural.” —Sanaa Lathan
“I auditioned for Ahsha–the nice girl in the show–three times. I guess they don’t see me as sweet because I didn’t book that role.” —Logan Browning
“My dad is actually a DJ from New York. Everyone is like “she got it from her daddy!” My dad is a white boy with soul. He grew up in Brooklyn doing graffiti and DJing. He’s super-supportive, but he doesn’t like to hear me talk about explicit stuff (because I’m his little girl).” —Chanel West
“I remember right when I was about to shave my head Wale said, ‘Man, nobody else got dreads, I don’t look like everybody else. I’m not gonna win with these dreads.’ I told him, ‘Wale don’t cut off your dreads. They are beautiful.’ He kept his dreads and he braided them back for the Ambition album cover. He ended up having a top record, everybody fell in love with him all over again and all he did was be himself.” —Chrisette Michelle
“Septum nose piercing. It’s our obsession and favorite piercing. We have had it for years! A hat or beanie, sketch book, and pencil at all times. You never know when you will have the next big idea. Gold accessories–gives you that goddess look.” —Coco & Breezy
“Yes, it’s my first big gig. I’ve done tons of Debbie Allen musicals. I was a dancer in Glee and I was a Laker girl for three months. I’ve done my share of dance, but this is my first breakout show.” —Taylour Paige
“I was making almost six figures at a very young age, which was cool, but the quality of life is more than that to me. If you love something so much you can’t stay away from it, it becomes a drug. That’s what music is to me. I can’t see myself going to an office and working at a place for the rest of my life just for money. I need to be happy on the inside and out. At the end of it, I’ll be Po Johnson. I can say that I tried.” — Po Johnson
