Yesterday (Feb. 4), Facebook turned 10 years old. Can you believe that in an era where social media sites often have an expiration date, this one is still leading the pack? No matter how outdated or ad-crowded this website becomes, we can’t bare to officially part with it. Despite our many hiatuses and deactivations, posting pictures, creating status updates and staying in touch with friends never gets old.
Here are 10 ways Facebook has changed our lives.
Blast From the Past
Going on Facebook is a walk down memory lane. Many of us have had accounts since it’s inception and as a result, it’s become a vault of embarrassing photos, ex-boyfriends, past friends and memories we love/hate to revisit.

Background Check
Instagram is the new and improved way to find out more about somebody. Whenever we meet a cute guy, we transform into private investigators, looking for just about anything we can dig up about their lives before meeting us.

Private Investigator
Once you get to know your new boy toy, Facebook will be where we find out if he’s doing dirt. We’ve all caught ourselves at least once “inspector gadgeting” through our current and ex’s FB page, tagged pictures and messages when we get a hold of his password.

We might not attend Comic Con or gaming conventions, but we all indulge in some sort of game on our smart phones. Thanks to Candy Crush, Farmville or whatever game of your choice, we will never rid ourselves of this social media website.

Lots of people say they would never do online dating, but plenty are guilty of giving their numbers and messaging complete strangers via Facebook.

As we get older, we’ll find ourselves relying on FB (like our older relatives) as a means of communicating with family and friends.

Status Updates
Thanks to Facebook, we’re always updated on the lives of our friends. For the most part, this is how we learn about the beginning and end of life, marriages and relationships.
