Thanksgiving is around the corner! Do you have the urge to play hostess? Are you scrambling to get a menu together? Are you trolling your mom for recipes? If you find your back up against the wall, just take a deep breath and realize that Thanksgiving does not have to be at your humble abode. Click though our 12 reasons for keeping your home guest-free this Thanksgiving.
1) No Time
If you haven’t started planning, delegating, and scheduling your trips to the supermarket, then why bother? We know a lot of you are super busy with work, school, and other endeavors, so don’t add more to your plate (pun intended)!
Listen, being able to cook Thanksgiving dinner takes skill and talent. If you know for a fact that you don’t assess the talent needed in the kitchen, don’t attempt to try.
3) Low on Cash
Turkey Day is expensive! Drinks, desserts, and décor all add up to a pretty, shiny penny and we haven’t begun to discuss appetizers or entree.
4) No Space
It’s natural to want to host Thanksgiving when we get our first space. It may be fixed up real nice and look like it belongs on HGTV, but in reality, there might not be room enough to fit all of your prospective guests.
5) Clean Up
Your spot might be going through a little renovation, you have a bad leak in the bathroom, or your spot might just be messy; cleaning up is going to take energy and time. If you don’t have either, then you are excused.
6) Romantic Thanksgiving
They say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. Make Turkey Day about you and your honey. Decline any speculations of open invites to your home and make it a closed intimate dinner for just your babe.
Black Friday Preparations
It takes time, research, and mental preparations to get ready for Black Friday (Thursday for some stores). If you are a Black Friday stan, then you know that hosting Thanksgiving dinner fits n where on your to-do list.
You’re Working Black Friday
To our retail vixens out there, we feel your angst about that dreaded day. You must be able to maintain your strength, patience, and nerves. You should be spending that day sleeping, not hosting a get together.
You’re Not in the Hostess Mood
Signing up to be the ‘hostess with the mostess’ isn’t a job to be taken lightly. It’s a lot of work. You have to mingle, cook and entertain all at the same time. You have to be ready and willing to wear all of these hats. If you are not with it, then it is alright to ring someone else’s door bell for dinner.
There is no way for you to be able to complete a whole Thanksgiving feast all by your little ole self. You are going to need some help, but what if there is no one to call on? If your friends are with family and family members are busy with their own dinner plans, then what is plan B? Grab a togo plate from both places.
We all know that when family and friends come together, there is an open door for drama. If your boyfriend doesn’t like your cousin, your aunt and mom don’t get along, or if you don’t get along with your sisters; it is easier to avoid that drama by not bringing it in your own home.
Be a Loner
We are aware that some of you might be loners. So, if your contact list looks a little grim, just go home and spend time with your family.
