Vixens we made it! After five days of work, the weekend is finally here. For most of us, it’s time to relax in our pajamas and veg out around the house. But unfortunately weekend television largely consists of re-runs that we already saw or monotonous TV movies.
Our saving grace is Netflix, a destination for old and new favorites, that’s adding original content to its lineup. And you don’t have to wait for new episodes because Netflix releases them at once. TV show marathon, anyone? Check out these original series and spice up your relaxing weekend.
House of Cards
Starring American Beauty‘s Kevin Spacey, this political dramedy follows Frank Underwood—formally a candidate for Secretary of State—who decides to seek revenge on those who took away his “big shot.” Of course, his wife and other congressional members are affected by Underwood’s sly schemes.
Hemlock Grove
The brainchild of horror film director Eli Roth, this thrilling series was developed from a novel of the same name. The plot seems simple: a teenage girl is killed in a small town and a hunt for the killer begins. However, in a town where everyone keeps secrets, Hemlock makes for a great murder mystery.
Lilyhammer
This series first aired on television in Sweden and made its debut to North American audiences on the video streaming site last year. Like House of Cards, this series’ main theme is corruption. Frank Tagliano, a member of the Italian Mafia, is relocated to the small Swedish town of Lilliehammer by Witness Protection. While there, he befriends a school teacher, eventually impregnating her and joining the criminal underworld once more.
