The Houston family is gearing up for a reality TV showdown this month with the premiere of the Lifetime network show The Houstons: On Our Own. Airing on October 24, the 14-episode series will follow the family as they cope with the sudden death of Whitney Houston. Lifetime put out a statement that the show “will be focusing especially on Bobbi Kristina, the 19-year-old daughter of Whitney and her former husband Bobby Brown and the only heir to her mother’s estate who was known for breaking down emotionally and physically after Whitney’s death.”
Nick Gordon (BK’s boyfriend), Cissy Houston, Pat Houston and Gary Houston will also star in the show.
We expect the show to be filled with laughter, tears and more. Check out three reasons the show will be a hit….
After the passing of Whitney Houston, the world got to see just how valuable her presence on this earth was. Her music moved millions, and although she wasn’t perfect, she always led a life that kept people interested. It’s all about legacy.
2. It will focus on Bobbi Kristina’s growth
BK grew up in the limelight and was constantly scrutinized for the bad decisions she’s made in life. The show will focus on her as she copes with the absence of her mother. With the help of her guardian Pat Houston, we think we will see a side that the blogs can’t criticize Bobbi for.
It’s sad to say, but a reality show without anything dramatic happening just isn’t as fun as watching people having an argument on national television. Bobbi Kristina’s relationship with her alleged “adopted brother” Nick Gordon and disagreements with her grandmother Cissy are problems the show may highlight. We just can’t wait to see how Lifetime portrays the issues.
