From global warming to freak natural storms, the earth is in dire need of some TLC. This week, we celebrate our majestic Mama Earth and all her glory, despite (or maybe because of) how fast the world is deteriorating. In fact, you’re probably aiding in the breakdown of natural resources and trashing this precious land and without realizing how humongous your own carbon footprint is. As we celebrate the air, land and sea, here are some ways to help the third planet from the sun survive our inhabitance.

Recycling
It’s a tale old request but the more you recycle, the better the earth will appreciate it. Instead of throwing all your trash in the same can, divide them by what’s recyclable and what’s not, it goes a long way.
Less cars on the road, less air pollution killing the earth. Try carpooling more and if it’s a nice day, try walking short distances. And if you must drive, avoid speeding, it gives you more miles per gallon. Also keeping your car well maintained can help reduce air pollution and save gas.
Plug Ins
Don’t over charge any of your electronics and avoid at all cost charging them over night. Turning off your laptops and unplugging the appliances you use can help the cost of electricity.
Littering
Instead of throwing items that aren’t biodegradable out the window, make sure they land in the trash.
Lights
Instead of wasting so much electricity try turning off your lights and using solar panels or natural sunlight if possible. Also switch out your regular lights for fluorescent lights.
Diapers
Parents go through 5,000 to 8,000 diapers per child, before they are potty trained. Try cloth or environmental friendly diapers instead.
Avoid rinsing your dishes before you put them in the dishwasher. Brush your teeth without the water running. Take showers instead of baths.
Online vs. Paper
Thanks to technology you can do pretty much anything on line and it’s better for the environment that you do. Read books/magazines and pay and manage bills online.
E-Ticket
Instead of printing your tickets, when possible use electronic tickets.
Clothes Washing
Hand wash your clothes when you can, and if you machine wash use cold and warm instead of hot. Instead of drying, get a clothes line and air dry your clothes, it also helps with keeping the color brights.
