She went to an all girls high school in Philly and graduated from Temple University with a degree in secondary education.

She quit teaching after teachers constantly complained about her teaching methods, which included singing to improve her students’ memorization.

She performed with the Canadian touring group for the Broadway play Rent.
Foundation
She founded the Blue Babe Foundation in 2002. It’s a scholarship organization that aids students heading to college.

She invented a new style of bras for full figure women called “Butterfly.”
Marriage
After 7 years of dating, she married graphic artist and DJ Lyzel WIlliams in 2001 and after 6 years of marriage, they divorced in 2007. The song “He Loves Me” was written about him.
Family
She had a son, Jett Roberts, with then-fiancé Lil Jon Roberts in 2009. Her and Roberts broke up a little while later.
