Vixens, get excited. The first day of spring came and went, and with that comes anticipation of a new look and a matching set of threads. Before you dive headfirst into your mini-dress (with the tag still on) or shake off the dust from last year’s sunglasses, here’s a checklist of necessary tasks you must complete before the sun beckons you out. –Stacy-Ann Ellis
Clean out your closet.
Before you plan your spring shopping spree, give your pre-existing inventory the once-over. Does this fit? When is the last time I wore this? Chances are if you haven’t worn something in over a year, you won’t wear it now. Dump (or donate) those space-holders and make room for some fresher fashion finds.
Check the weather.
Vixens, there’s nothing more foolish than rocking a sundress and sandals in 50-degree weather. Admit it, you’ve peeped someone stroll the sidewalk, clutching their frock as it flies up in the chilly wind. Don’t let that be you. We’re all excited for the warm weather, but don’t jump the gun and wear ensembles that the forecast hasn’t called for yet. Take this time to play with layers. Get your last wear out of light jackets and tights and billowy sweaters before packing them up for next year.
Many of us have been lax with our hair maintenance routine throughout the winter. It’s perfectly understandable. But before you trade your long johns for skin-showing bottoms, tame the mane that kept your legs warm all winter. Choose whatever hair removal works best for you and give your limbs the proper seasonal debut they deserve.
Yes, black has a way of adding that sexy factor to every outfit. However, this spring, make a vow to put the head-to-toe black ensemble away. Accentuate your beautiful hues with a wide range of color palates. Tap into your inner Solange and experiment with everything from rich jewel tones and soft pastels to playful prints. You can’t go wrong with color.
Your feet have been tucked away in socks and boots for at least three months. Unless you’ve taken a spring break trip and have already taken care of the necessary beauty prep, whisk yourself the nearest nail salon and get a professional pedicure. A new coat of polish applied at your bedside just won’t cut it. Make sure that your heels have been properly exfoliated and your toes are evenly trimmed before pushing your feet in anybody’s sandals.
Stock up on allergy meds.
Everyone wants to feel their very best when the spring weather warms up. Don’t allow sneezing, sniffling and watery eyes to smudge and smear your makeup. Amply prepare your body for the pollen infestation by arming yourself which the right medicine.
