It’s an understood fact that Iggy Azalea is doing her thing in the music right now. 2014 is gearing up to be her year, but would it be fair to say she’s running hip hop? Forbes thinks so. In a new piece on the Aussie bombshell (previously titled “Hip Hop Is Run By A White, Blonde, Australian Woman”), writer Hugh McIntyre dubbed her the genre’s breakout star. He makes his case that Nicki Minaj’s absence from the space left ample room for Iggy to swoop into that top spot. Interesting.
Due to much flack from the internets, Forbes changed the title to “Hip-Hop’s Unlikely New Star: A White, Blonde, Australian Woman” and released the following statement:
The title of this article has been changed from its original version — “Hip Hop Is Run By A White, Blonde, Australian Woman” — because it did not accurately reflect the content of the piece. The author offers sincere apologies to anyone who was offended by it.
Vixens, do you think Forbes was making a valid point with this article?
