Makeup has failed to compensate for the wide range of skin tones in the marketplace. However, prolific actress Angela Bassett and German doctor Dr. Barbara Sturm are planning to change that.
After confiding in her friend, Dr. Sturm (pictured above) about the breakouts and irritations she was experiencing with her makeup products, Bassett gave Dr. Sturm’s original line a try. Apparently, it worked so well that the award winning actress decided a skincare line catering to darker tones was necessary.
Appropriately titled “Darker Skin Tones by Dr. Barbara Sturm,” is said to target inflammation, unevenness of the skin, and hyper-pigmentation. Purslane, one of the key ingredients throughout the entire line, is said to also target anti-aging in a major way with the help of a youth enzyme.
According to WWD, Bassett’s main goal is for people to pay special attention to their skin “and to see what works best and what ingredients are helpful — and not invasive or irritating. “I like them to be pleased when they look in the mirror, to feel good about themselves and the condition of their complexion.”
The five item line will include a foam cleanser, enzyme cleanser, face cream, 50 ml face cream rich, and a hyaluronic serum. The brand is currently slated for a July release with products being sold exclusively at Harrods in store and online.
