We’re all still tripping a little bit over Kanye’s self-professed love for Kim Kardashian on his new track “Theraflu.” But while most people are still having a bit of a WTF moment, this relationship could actually be good news—for fashion at least.
Say what you want about Kim Kardashian, but there is one thing no one can argue against when it comes to this girl, and that’s her gid fashion sense. She looks amazing in whatever she wears, and whether she’s seen in a staged photoshoot or caught off guard by paparazzi, you can be sure her hair, nails, makeup, outfit and shoes will all be on point.
Which brings me to Kanye…
Yeezy’s personal style is actually pretty hot, and he sets as many trends for men as Kim does for women. Remember the sweater vest, backpack look he had every man on campus rocking back in 2004? Since he’s dropped that scruffy 80s look he had going on around the 808s & Heartbreak time, he’s back in our fashion good graces—Watch the Throne concert kilt aside. But when it comes to his women’s fashion line, he’s still leaving a lot to be desired.
The DW clothing was revealed at Paris Fashion Week in 2011 to a less-than-thrilled audience who felt the rapper had absolutely no clue what he was doing when it came to dressing the ladies. Last month, the rookie designer showed off his Fall/Winter 2012 collection, and although critics still weren’t jumping up and down with excitement, the reviews were much better than the debut. And guess who was right there on the scene rocking his latest wardrobe creations, including the $6,000 knit Guiseppe heels most of the models couldn’t walk in? That’s right. Kim Kardashian. See where we’re going with this?
Not only is Kim a fashion icon, she got her start in the business as a stylist and has two clothing lines under her belt: K-Dash on QVC and the Kardashian Kollection at Sears, not to mention the Dash boutique. Do you think ‘Ye is going to let all of the quality time they’re spending go by without at least picking his boo’s brain for a little fashion advice?
Considering Kanye needs something to take his high-end women’s label to the next level, and Kim’s clothing lines have been released through major retailers that any woman can purchase from, a fashion collaboration between these two could be just what the industry needs. The air still isn’t clear on just how romantically involved these two are, but a KimYe fashion line or a DW wardrobe revamp à la Kim K. is a relationship I don’t mind seeing these two take part in.
What do you think?
